Brett is the principal of Cottesloe Sports Physiotherapy. He has a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy and a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy. He has been working as a Physiotherapist since 1991 in both hospital and private practice.

He is well known for his work with elite sporting teams, having worked with the Australian Swimming Team since 2006. He was selected by the AOC (Australian Olympic Committee) to work as one of the Australian Team Physiotherapists at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, and continues to tour with the swim team on a regular basis, the most recent being the world short course championships in Dubai in 2010.

Since 2009, Brett has also be working with the Australian Kayak Team, including traveling to Europe to provide Physiotherapy at the world cup and world championship regattas.

He is an excellent diagnostician, and will be able to provide a clear “plan of attack” when dealing with complex musculoskeletal problems. Having worked at the elite sporting level, he has developed an excellent network of sports physicians, radiologists, surgeons, doctors and other allied health and natural health professionals in both Perth and in the Eastern States of Australia, so that in cases when more than just Physiotherapy treatment is required, you will be referred off for the appropriate care.

He is from an elite sporting background having been two time Australian champion in beach flags and world champion in beach flags and beach relay. Back in 1994 he captained the Australian Surf Life Saving Representative Team on their tour of Japan.

He has an excellent grasp of myofascial techniques both manual therapy and dry needling, and has “good hands” when it comes to spinal manipulation and adjustment. He is a certified level three (DMA) pilates instructor and you will occasionally catch him filling in for Donna or Grace in the Pilates room.

He lectures regularly for the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Sports Medicine Australia and Manual Concepts on various sports Physiotherapy topics, primarily shoulder injuries and rehabilitation techniques.

Brett is equally at home treating these elite athletes as well as mums (including pregnant mums!), dads and kids. Being able to bring his expertise to everybody means faster improvement from injury and less time wondering just what is going wrong with your body.

Grace Conlan

B.Sc. (Physiotherapy)

Physiotherapist Grace Conlan has been an integral part of the success of the Clinical Pilates Program at Cottesloe Sports Physiotherapy since she started with us back in 2008. She has an incredible approach to the exercise prescription that is Clinical Pilates, with an eye for detail and uncanny ability to identify incorrect harmful movement patterns and implement a set of exercises to remedy the problem. This results in steady improvement in painful symptoms over time (with some effort from the patient of course). And in the elite sporting population, massive improvements in efficiency of movement and thus performance. She does this all with her beautiful nature and killer smile.

She has worked with many local sporting teams, WAAFL football, the WA Ballet Company and at State and National Surf Lifesaving Championships. Grace divides her time at Cottesloe Sports Physiotherapy between the manual therapy rooms and the Pilates room and demonstrates excellent skills in manual therapy techniques and massage. Grace has a keen self interest in surfing, kite surfing and rock climbing and is hoping to direct her future Physiotherapy path towards conditioning and injury rehabilitation in these sports.
